While the future of new wind farm development hangs in the balance, there are still many more dollars to be made by focusing on smarter operations & maintenance (O&M) strategy for live projects in North America.

This becomes even more essential as the volume of projects reaching end-of-warranty increases and operators have choices to make about the appropriate post-warranty model to adopt. Delivering to budget has always been the key focus but there are also significant further financial gains to be made by striving to maximize production and minimise costs.

Using broad industry pre and post-warranty operational data held by GL Garrad Hassan, Cathy Syme, Senior Project Manager in its Asset Management and Operational Services Team, demonstrates how benchmarking the costs of a project against an internal or industry peer group can help to identify whether there is an opportunity to improve results, even if a wind farm is on budget. In her presentation “O&M Strategy: How does your wind farm compare?” she will also address the different O&M strategies available for post-warranty projects, and their implications on future costs.

The presentation will be held on Friday, 27 April 2012, 2:30 PM – 3:00 PM at Wind Energy Update’s 4th Annual Wind Energy Operations and Maintenance Summit in the Dallas Marriott City Center Hotel, Dallas/Texas.
