On 21 April 2012, Guangan LNG Plant invested and constructed by China Natural Gas Co., Ltd., of which Kunlun Energy Company Limited is the holding company, officially commenced operation in Guangan Xinqiao Industrial Zone.
Mr. Guo Yongxiang, Deputy director of the People’s Congress Standing Committee of Sichuan Province, Mr. Chen Wenhua, Deputy governor of Sichuan Province, Mr. Jiang Jiemin, Chairman and Party Secretary of China National Petroleum Corporation, Mr. Zhou Jiping, President and Party member of China National Petroleum Corporation, Mr. Li Hualin, Vice-president of PetroChina Company Limited and Chairman of Kunlun Energy Company Limited, and other leaders attended the opening ceremony as well as the ribbon cutting event for the project.
At the opening ceremony, Mr. Wang Jianjun, Party Secretary of the Guangan City Party Committee, mentioned that the Provincial Party Committee and provincial government of Sichuan has categorized the promotion and application of Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) into the 12th Five-Year Plan for the entire province, and has identified seven demonstration cities within the province. Meanwhile, the Development and Reform Committee of Sichuan currently works on the promulgation of incentive policies and supports the development and growth of the Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) business in the province. Guangan City will fully implement all requirements by the Provincial Party Committee and provincial government, and maximize its support at all levels for a favorable environment for the growth and expansion of its own Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) business.
The construction and operation of Guangan LNG Plant in Sichuan is regarded as the primary construction project for “Gasification of Guangan” as well as one of the specific projects for strategic development of “Gas In Substitution of Oil” implemented by Kunlun Energy. The Plant, with an investment of 560 million RMB, has a daily processing capacity of 1 million cubic metres and an annual output of 220 thousand tons of LNG. The Plant located in Guangan Economy and Technology Development Zone, which is one of the National Economy and Technology Development Zone. It adopts worldwide leading production technologies, the products of which mainly apply to the market for vehicle fuel and peak modulation of natural gas in cities.
The operation of the Plant will exert a significant long-term influence on Guangan City in terms of its local conversion of natural gas resources, guarantee of power supply, rapid expansion of social economic aggregate, implementation of upgrading its industrial transformation, and acceleration of new industrialization progress.
