After a record number of entries Fugro have been shortlisted for ‘International Project of the Year’ in the Ground Engineering Awards to be held on May 4th at Grosvenor House Hotel, London.

The nomination is for their geotechnical work on the Arkona-Becken Südost offshore wind farm in the Baltic Sea.

Fugro were awarded the contract by E.ON to perform the main geotechnical investigation for the offshore wind farm and the fieldwork was carried out in summer and early autumn 2011 in water depths ranging from 22m to 37m. Fugro Seacore’s Excalibur jack-up, the dedicated geotechnical drilling vessel MV Fugro Commander and the jack-up platform Pauline were all deployed to perform a total of 79 boreholes.
