Energy World Corporation said in a statement that major equipment of approximately 5,000 tonnes and with an ex-work value in excess of USS200 million for the Sengkang LNG Project, is being shipped to site in Indonesia.
Following the appointment by the company of MB Projects Pte Ltd of the Martin Bencher Group to coordinate and arrange the shipping of the equipment, four cold boxes each of capacity 500,000 tonnes per annum have been collected from Chart Industries’ manufacturing plant in New Iberia and transported by inter-coastal waterway to Texas Terminal in Houston.
Independent to this action, skid mounted gas clean up equipment also supplied by Chart was collected from Thermo Design Engineering Ltd’s factory in Canada and transhipped to Texas Terminal in Houston.
The weight of each of these cold boxes is 220 tonnes and their overall size is 10 1m x 6.1m x 13.7m. Martin Bencher are also co-ordinating the collection and shipment of the Siemens Compressors and Electric Drive Motors from Duisberg, Germany and from New Kensington in the USA and other ancillary equipments manufactured by Chart and Siemens in vanous places in the USA, Europe and other countries. They also collected the four loading arms which were manufactured by Aker Kvaerner Woodfield Systems Ltd. in the United Kingdom.
To ensure maximum safety and security of these equipments, insurance for all shipments has been arranged by AON to cover full replacement values in the event of need, and for the transportation from a variety of locations to Indonesia the major equipments will be shipped separately for safety reasons.
Two of the cold boxes and ancillary equipments have been loaded on board the MV Fairioad and have left Texas Terminal in Houston on 9 May 2012.
The two other cold boxes will be shipped in mid June. Other equipments will follow a planned programme of shipment to site. The shipping time to site in Keera. Indonesia is 45-50 days.
In preparation for the receipt of these equipments, site works have been undertaken. A secure lay down area has been prepared at the site and a temporary jetty has been constructed.
Each of the units will be offloaded from the ocean going vessel in mid channel Bone Bay onto barges that will be utilised to transport the equipment to shore where it will be transported to the site. Once at site, construction and installation of these equipments will commence. Foundation work will also commence to enable the equipment to be erected.
