The Upper House of the German Federal Parliament, the Bundesrat, voted against reform of the feed-in tariff (FIT) for solar energy, according to the North American Windpower.
The opposition didn’t get enough votes to reject the law, but the number was enough to postpone its adoption.
The research firm Jefferies reported that the FIT rates for solar and offshore wind energy are at the same level. If the solar FITs are to go up it could pave the way for a shift from offshore wind to solar energy in Germany.
Current subsidy rates for offshore wind are 0.17 euros/kWh.
