On 12th May, the Crown Prince and Princess of Denmark visited DSME’s Okpo shipyard to attend the steel cutting ceremony for Hull No. 4250. Hull No. 4250 will be the world’s biggest 18, 270 TEU containership and was ordered last year by Denmark based A.P. Moller- Maersk.
Mr. Jaeho Ko, the President & CEO of DSME, H.R.H. Crown Prince Frederik, and H.R.H. Crown Princess Mary joined together to celebrate the start of the project. Around 80 honored guest also attended the ceremony including H.E. Ole Christian Liep Sohn , Minister for Business and Growth of Denmark, and H.E. Peter Lysholt Hansen, Ambassador of Denmark in Seoul.
After the ceremony, the Crown Prince and Princess of Denmark visited Hull No. 4225 which is under construction in the shipyard and they were impressed by the sheer size of DSME’s yard and vessel construction abilities.
When completed, the 18,000 TEU container ship will measure 400 m in length and 59 m in width. It is the first of 20 container ships DSME is building for the Danish company based on orders from February last year.
