China: Afai Southern Completes 34m Ferry Project

On May 16th 2012, “XUN LONG 6”, the 34m aluminum catamaran fast ferry contracted and built by Afai Southern, departured the mooring quay slowly to arrive at the Shenzhen Shekou Ferry Terminal successfully at 16:00.

“XUN LONG 6”is the second one of 34m series vessels co-designed and built by Afai Southern, its delivery to XUNLONG SHIPPING CO., LTD marked the successful completion of the 34m ferry project.

The exterior form of this ferry is beatiful and streamlined; the interior outfitting is fine and elegant.

The vessel is powered by a pair of MTU 16V2000 M70 main engines. These engines drive through a pair of ZF4540 gearboxes to MJP 550DD water jets. The structure and stability of the vessel is designed according to the requirements of greater coastal navigation area. The vessel can resist wind of Beaufort Scale 7 and wave of 4m height.

By adopting advanced design from Australia and propelled by twin propulsion engines and waterjets, the ferry has fine performance of sea keeping, high speed and maneuverability.
