The offshore wind industry is continuing to gather knowledge and awareness of health & safety training, according to renewable energy safety training specialists Falck Nutec. The news follows the firm exhibiting and consulting with delegates at last week’s All-Energy conference at the Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre.

The firm have recently become the first company to receive accreditation for RenewableUK (RUK) courses in both Working at Height & Rescue – wind turbines – and Marine Safety Training. The additions to the existing training portfolio will mean that the firm’s Teesside centre will be one of the most comprehensive renewable energy health and safety training bases in the whole country, offering a suite of wind energy training courses.

Lisa Dodds , Business Development Manager for Renewable Energy at the firm, underlined the value in exhibiting at the show: “Last week’s All-Energy conference provided us with an excellent platform to promote this recent news of our RenewableUK safety training courses. The experience we have gathered from clients has helped us to refine our offerings in this area and our teams are looking forward to continuing to meet the needs of such a dynamic sector.

We were delighted with the response that we received at this year’s conference. The feedback we received echoed the positivity and enthusiasm surrounding the renewable energy Market in the UK. The sector as a whole is remaining switched on to health & safety in renewables – in particular offshore wind – this is a trend which is set to continue in future months and years, as many Round3 developments draw ever-increasingly closer.”

Falck Nutec has OPITO-approved sites in Teesside and Europe’s Oil & Gas capital, Aberdeen. The Danish-based group specialise in offshore survival training, company specific practical fire safety training, emergency response, dangerous goods, CAA VHF Radio, helideck training, and sea survival. Falck group has 30 safety training centres across five continents globally.

UK PR & Marketing Executive , Greig Duncan , was equally-pleased with the response received at the event: “The team that manned the stand – alongside our partners in crisis management, Altor Risk Group – were delighted with the response at All Energy 2012. We received a number of interesting enquiries for a range of our services, from offshore survival training, to more bespoke offshore wind and renewable medical queries.”

This was also the first time we have formally rolled out our new ‘Trust in a safer World’ tagline at an event like this. We were happy that many delegates mentioned that they had already seen our record-breaking banner advertisement (the largest in Northern Europe) at Aberdeen Airport. We have had a very active 2012 so far with the renewable energy training we deliver in Teesside for various global clients, and local onshore wind farms.”

Additionally, Falck Healthcare in the UK has the ability to offer a range of occupational health and medical services, ranging from OGUK medicals to drug and alcohol screening to offshore inoculations.
