Elengy, a GDF Suez unit, said that with the arrival of the vessel LNG Rivers from Nigeria on June 3, the LNG terminal in Montoir-de-Bretagne received its 2500th shipment of LNG from its commissioning in 1980.
These 2 500 shipments, originated from 11 countries, have been delivered safely by 100 different LNG carriers, i.e. 25% of the world’s fleet. This worldwide record for diversity has been achieved by a wide range of vessels, from the first tanker featuring a capacity of 25 500 m 3 of LNG ( Jules Verne in December 1980) to the Atlantic-Max tankers (such as the Stena Clear Sky , 174 000 m 3 , the 100 th different LNG carrier received in April 2012) and the Q-Flex vessels (217 000 m 3 received as of 2009). The terminal is also in position to receive the world’s largest LNG carriers (Q-Max, 267 000 m 3 ) since August 2011. This diversity illustrates Elengy’s expertise and experience, as well as the high level of adaptability and operational reliability of its industrial facilities.
Meanwhile, without affecting its business operations, renovation works are ongoing at the terminal – an investment of almost €150 million to guarantee operations at the site through to 2035. Elengy is also carrying out a market consultation to expand the terminal’s capacity, and has been offering a new commercial ship reloading service since February 1, 2012, implemented for the first time in April 2012.
