EnerMech has been awarded its first major pipeline commissioning contract in the Australian oil and gas sector.
The mechanical engineering company will provide engineering support, personnel and pre-commissioning equipment and services on the 90km Chevron Gorgon DomGas pipeline currently under construction offshore north west Australia.
The contract was awarded by SaupraClough Pty Ltd, is expected to last up to six months and is estimated to be worth AUD $1.3 million (£900,000).
The workscope includes the flooding, cleaning, gauging and hydrotesting of the pipeline from riser top on Barrow Island to an onshore compressor station on the main Dampier to Bunbury pipeline. Dewatering and drying of the pipeline and nitrogen purging will also be performed.
Gorgon is one of the highest profile pipeline constructions project taking place in Western Australia and EnerMech has invested in the latest decommissioning equipment which meets strict quarantine requirements.

“Significant investment in establishing an infrastructure which best serves the fast expanding Australian hydrocarbon sector is now starting to pay off and we believe our work on Gorgon will be the start of establishing EnerMech’s credentials as a major provider of process, pipeline and umbilical services.”
EnerMech has established bases in Perth and Melbourne and has plans to grow its Australian workforce from 40 to 120 in the next two years.
