Chiyoda Corporation, Japan’s leading engineering and construction firm, today announces that Chiyoda has been awarded an Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) contract by Tokyo Gas Engineering Co., Ltd. for Hitachi LNG Terminal in Ibaraki port, Hitachi district, Hitachi city, Ibaraki prefecture. Tokyo Gas Co., Ltd. is the owner to construct this Terminal.
Chiyoda has been involved in the construction of all Tokyo Gas’s LNG terminals, including Negishi, Sodegaura and Ougishima, since the first LNG terminal in Japan started operation in 1969.
Chiyoda has also completed over half of the 30 or more LNG terminals in Japan, and is constructing three further large LNG terminals in addition to this awarded project. With the growing expectation that natural gas will be the fuel of the future due to its low-carbon-footprint, Chiyoda is well-positioned to design and build LNG terminals which have the advantages of high economic rationality and stable operation, and are well-prepared to withstand most disasters.
Supporting the high-integrity LNG supply chain system, Chiyoda aims to contribute to the steady supply of clean energy through its EPC work for domestic LNG terminals as well as that for LNG plants in natural gas-producing countries overseas.
