The Echoscope® has been used during the development of advanced underwater kite technology from the company Minesto.

Taking advantage of the unique geometry of the viewing volume, it has been possible to visualise current-driven hydrofoils in three dimensions as they move through the water flow. This allowed the development team to confirm that their motion models based on all the on-board sensors where accurate compared to the real world. The kite technology is currently being scaled up and will soon be used to generate renewable energy from low speed ocean currents around the world.
