Atmos Consulting has been commissioned by Highlands and Islands Enterprise (HIE) to undertake a feasibility study of eight potential onshore test sites for offshore wind technology.
The study will involve a critical review of the sites, concentrating on those with real development potential, plus detailed consultation with offshore developers and offshore equipment manufacturers to review their requirements and whether any of the shortlisted sites are suitable.
If any of the sites prove to be practical propositions, then the project will also concentrate on the next steps to implementation.
Atmos Consulting will be working with URS and DEWI (the German Wind Energy Institute) on this project.
Fraser Mackenzie , Director of Atmos Consulting said: ” This is a really exciting commission for Atmos. There is significant demand for test facilities and the aim of this exercise is to bring forward a number of suitable sites across the Highlands and Islands if it is practical to do so.”
