Fairfield Energy confirms that an ROV (Remotely Operated Vehicle) survey carried out following repairs to the company operated Osprey subsea manifold has identified the need for further repairs before operations at Osprey can resume.
As it will take some time to source the equipment required to complete these repairs the Osprey manifold and its associated pipe work will be filled with seawater. The two Osprey wells will remain closed in until this work is completed.
Background
Following a spill reported on the 13th July, intervention work identified a leak on a line between an Osprey wellhead and the manifold. Divers successfully isolated this pipe work on 20th July. On the 25th July an ROV was mobilised to assist in monitoring start-up operations. The ROV identified another significantly smaller leak on a different part of the manifold.
All relevant authorities are aware and dialogue is on-going with the Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC).
Osprey is a multi well subsea development that feeds back to the Fairfield owned Dunlin Alpha installation located approximately 195km north-east of Shetland.
