Statoil Petroleum AS (Statoil) has received consent to use the West Elara mobile drilling facility for drilling and well operations on the Valemon field.

The consent covers drilling and completion of 11 production wells and two injection wells on the Valemon field. The drilling activity is scheduled to last through 2017.

Valemon is located in the northern part of the North Sea, directly west of the Kvitebjørn field. The field is being developed, with production start-up scheduled in 2014. Water depth at Valemon is 133 metres.

Valemon is being developed with a production facility with a single separation process. The plan is to transport the rich gas from the field by pipeline to the Heimdal facility for further export to the UK or the Continent, while the condensate will be transported via the Kvitebjørn field to the onshore facility at Mongstad.

West Elara is a jack-up drilling facility delivered by Jurong Shipyard Pte Ltd in Singapore in 2011. It is registered in Norway and Det Norske Veritas is its classification society.
