Sea Fibre Networks Ltd (SFN) has taken legal actions on the Commercial Court against the Minister for the Environment regarding his approval of Emerald Bridge Fibres (EBF) Ltd’s subsea fibre optic telecommunications cable project.

According to SFN, the cable that would stretch between Portmarnock, Co Dublin and Wales, would cross the SFN’s state-of-the-art network CeltixConnect, putting it at risk of damage, Irish Times reports.

SFN has also professed a number of defects in the process leading to the licence being issued to EBF.
