From 16-17 October 2012, the Petroleum Safety Authority Norway (PSA) carried out an audit of the Knarr project. The activity was directed at the project management for the subsea facility, pipeline systems and gas export pipeline.
The audit emphasised roles and responsibilities in the project organisation, how suppliers and sub-suppliers are qualified and managed, including BG Norge’s compliance with the supervisory duty and execution of quality control, whether the interfaces between the different deliveries are clarified, how the project’s risk is identified and handled, how lessons learned and experience internally in the company and industry are handled in the project, and BG Norge’s preparations for the operations phase.
No nonconformities or improvement items were identified.
The Knarr field (previously known as Jordbaer) is located in the northern part of the North Sea, about 120 kilometres west of Florø. The field will be developed with seabed facilities tied in to a floating production facility (FPSO).
The FPSO unit, which will have a maximum design production capacity of 63,000 barrels per day (bbls/d), is scheduled to deliver during the first quarter of 2014, at which time it will commence operations under its charter contract with BG for a firm period of either six or ten years plus extension options for a total period of up to 20 years.
