Plans for installation of the fifth submarine cable in Kenya are ongoing, All Africa reports.
As Information Permanent Secretary Bitange Ndemo informed, the company is in talks with a Middle Eastern company to start the procurement process.
Currently Kenya has four subsea cables including EASSy, TEAMS, SEACOM, and LION-2, which hold more than 2.8 terabytes of bandwidth, and with the fifth cable in operation the capacity will raise to 15 terabytes.
The cables will also provide international connectivity, and will serve Kenya’s neighbouring countries.
