David Morris, Member of the UK Parliament for Morecambe and Lunesdale has supported the residents of Isle of Man regarding disapproval of the Celtic Array’s Rhiannon offshore wind farm, which is proposed to be built in the Irish Sea.
After Mr. Morris met with House of Keys Speaker Steve Rodan to discuss concerns about the impact of the proposed offshore wind farm, he has tabled an early day motion in the House of Commons, calling on the UK Government to avoid the construction of offshore wind farms close to shipping routes, according to the Isle of Man Today news site.
Namely, the Government and the Steam Packet Company are worried about the proposal that goes right across the Steam Packet’s Liverpool and Heysham lanes.
“I will be urging Isle of Man residents, following the excellent initiative of Isle of Man Newspapers to lobby Centrica, to ask friends and family across to write to their MP to sign this EDMand build up some political support,” the Isle of Man Today quotes Steve Rodan as saying.
