The developers of the proposed European Offshore Wind Deployment Centre (EOWDC) have expressed their disappointment on the Scottish officials’ inability to announce the decision on the project and called on ministers to announce their decision as early as possible in 2013.
The planning application for EOWDC is being considered by Marine Scotland, which was confirmed to the Herald Scotland by a spokeswoman for the Scottish Government, but she could not say when the decision will be reached. After Marine Scotland’s review on the project, the application will be passed to the ministers who will make the final decision.
“Assuming that there is no announcement on the 31st of December, the project partners are disappointed that no decision has been made in 2012 and we hope that it will be made as early as possible in 2013,” the project spokesman Iain Todd is quoted as saying.
Mr. Todd added: “The EOWDC is a strategically important wind project for the north-east’s economy and Scotland’s ambitions to be a leader in offshore wind power, and we believe that a strong case has been made to the Scottish Government for a positive consent decision.”
A spokesman for the Trump Organisation also commented on this delay by saying that First Minister’s “personal meddling with the application” is keeping this proposed project “alive for too long”.
