Maryland Offshore Wind Bill Passes 2nd House of Delegates Hearing (USA)

The Maryland House of Delegates gave preliminary approval to the Offshore Wind Energy Act of 2013, the Baltimore Sun informs.

Governor Martin O’Malley’s bill passed the second reading in the House on Wednesday and the third reading, and final vote on the bill, is scheduled for today (Friday, February 22).

Eight amendments were introduced by the House Republicans, but the delegates rejected them.

On February 13, the Senate Finance Committee held a hearing on the Maryland Offshore Wind Energy Act , but has not yet voted on it. It is expected that the Committee will do this soon.

Senate President Thomas V. Mike Miller is confident that the bill will pass this time. With the purpose of pushing the offshore wind bill, which would be effective from June 1, Senate leadership adjusted the committee members .
