Sungdong Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering organized, few days ago, a naming ceremony for Costamare’s two new 8.800TEU containerships. The vessels, named ‘MSC ATHENS’ and ‘MSC ATHOS’, are the largest that Sungdong has built so far.
Costamare in 2011 ordered from Sungdong Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering Co., Ltd. of Korea five newbuild containerships. All five newbuilds have been time chartered to members of the Evergreen Group and are expected to be delivered between the first and the third quarters of 2013.
