The exact date of the start of dredging works at Lexington Harbor remains unknown, official states, however, the Sanilac County News reports that the water at the harbor is still deep enough for boats to enter.

Meanwhile, Busch Marine of Bay City was dredging out the Port Sanilac Harbor entrance last week.

Mark Sine, person in charge of the Lexington State Harbor and the north access launch in Port Sanilac Harbor , said: “The shallowest was recorded right off the tip north-south of the break wall. It was 4 foot tight to the break wall. There was some 5 to 5-1/2 feet, the remainder was 6-1/2 to 7 to 9 feet (deep).”

“This tells me that there are some spots that should be addressed, but we are not in the dire straits I thought we would be in…I do not see any issues with people getting in.”

“I am getting a lot of calls. It is not doing our businesses any good with people running on gossip. I do not even have a rough time schedule,” he stated.

Port Sanilac Harbor Master Dave Marschall said phase I of the dredging includes removing 1,000 cubic feet of sand from the entrance.
