Audubon announced that Audubon Engineering had been named to create the front-end engineering and design for Noble Energy’s new $45 million liquefied natural gas (LNG) facility, Colorado’s first dedicated LNG plant.

According to Audubon Business Development Executive Vice President West Hickham , “Our design for the LNG facility will provide the capacity to produce up to 100,000 gallons of LNG per day to fuel Houston-based Noble Energy’s rigs and other heavy equipment used in its DJ Basin operations. The LNG facility will run in conjunction with the company’s Keota natural gas processing plant, which is also an Audubon high-efficiency design, in rural northern Weld County.”

The displacement of diesel by full utilization of LNG from the Keota facility is expected to significantly reduce carbon dioxide (CO2), nitrogen oxide (NOx) and volatile organic compound (VOC) emissions. Scheduled startup date for the Keota natural gas processing plant is mid-2014 with the LNG facility coming online shortly afterward.

Audubon recently was named Owner’s Engineer for the proposed Dominion Cove Point LNG construction project, located in Lusby, Md., on the Chesapeake Bay. With more than 1,100 employees in the United States and South America, Audubon is a global project solutions provider serving the oil & gas, petrochemical, refining, communications, and power industries.
