Bilfinger Industrial Services has recently completed a consulting project for Sakhalin Energy on the island of Sakhalin in Russia. The contract entailed an analysis of the efficiency and efficacy of the processes implemented in a liquefied natural gas terminal including downstream production facilities.
The activities were performed on site from January to March, with the project completed in early summer 2013 free of any delays.
The liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminal is located on the island of Sakhalin in the Sea of Okhotsk, north of the Japanese island of Hokkaido. The offshore facilities, which also came within the scope of the analysis, are located off the eastern coast of the island. Bilfinger Industrial Services and Sakhalin Energy had been in contact with each other for around a year prior to the award of the contract. The contract itself arose from initial talks with Gazprom Sakhalin Holdings B.V., Sakhalin Energy’s majority shareholder. The project posed a particular challenge for the experts at Bilfinger Industrial Services as the processes to be analysed had been established by specialists with extremely advanced technological and methodological skills.

During the execution of the project, the experts from Bilfinger Industrial Services were supported by specialists from affiliate Bilfinger Industrial Technologies and its subsidiary Tebodin. By working together in this way, the Company will be able to accept even larger contracts for the analysis of industrial facilities and processes.
