Chart Ferox, a.s., a member of the Chart Industries, announced that its European Distribution & Storage (D&S) business has been awarded a contract by PETRONAS Floating LNG 1 Ltd (PFLNG 1) to provide the Liquid Nitrogen Storage Package for the PFLNG 1 production facility, which will be located in Malaysia.
The unit is expected to be the world’s first floating LNG facility in operation, when completed by the end 2015.
PFLNG 1 signed the Engineering, Procurement, Construction, Installation and Commissioning (EPCIC) Contract for the project with a Consortium of Technip and Daewoo Shipyard & Marine Engineering (DSME) in June 2012. In 2012, the Consortium proceeded with tenders on behalf of PFLNG 1 for the supply of equipment, including the liquid nitrogen package, for the PFLNG 1 production facility. During the tendering period and detail engineering, engineers from PETRONAS, Chart Ferox and the Consortium reviewed technical specifications and the design process typical for EPCIC projects in the oil and gas industry.
Chart Ferox is currently manufacturing the Liquid Nitrogen Storage Package, which is scheduled to be delivered by the end of 2013.
