In 2010, Skangass entered into a long-term time charter contract for “Coral Energy” with shipowner Anthony Veder. Now Skangass signs another contract with Anthony Veder, for the ship ‘Coral Anthelia’.

“The fact that we have to increase our LNG transport capacity at sea means that the demand for LNG in NW Europe is increasing. At the same time, having two ships available gives us an opportunity to tailor our delivery further,” says CEO of Skangass, Tor Morten Osmundsen. “Coral Anthelia” will be brought into operation by the end of 2014 with a time charter agreement for a medium period, with possibilities for extension.

The tanker will carry LNG from the plant at Risavika to the Skangass terminal in Fredrikstad. The ship will possibly perform ship-to-ship bunkering operations, thereby increasing the number of bunkering options offered by Skangass. “Coral Energy” will be used for carrying LNG to the new Skangass terminal in Lysekil to be opened before summer 2014, as well as other sea operations. “Coral Anthelia” has future-oriented equipment that complies with all international requirements concerning emissions, including reductions in NOX, SOX and particulates. The ship is equipped to enable it to operate in the Baltic in winter and has ice classification for this. Coral Anthelia can carry approx. 6,500 m3 of LNG, which is half of the capacity of Coral Energy.

“We are extremely pleased with expansion of our co-operation with Skangass and having an additional LNG carrier on time charter with them. It shows that the market for small scale LNG is developing fast and that both companies strategically have a strong position in this market. For Anthony Veder it will be the third small scale LNG carrier operating in the Northern European area.” According to Jan Valkier, CEO of Anthony Veder.
