Samsung Heavy Industries’ (SHI) offshore wind turbine jacket began its journey toward Energy Park Fife in Methil this weekend, Paisley.org.uk writes.
The jacket was manufactured by Steel Engineering Ltd., based in Renfrew, and was loaded on a 60-metre barge on Saturday, when it started its voyage to the site where it will be installed. This 500 tone heavy wind turbine jacket, an integral part of the SHI’s 7 MW offshore wind prototype, is scheduled to be installed this month.
SHI plans to completely erect the 7 MW turbine and put it in operation by the end of this year.
