Peter King, P.E., LSP, LEP, a senior environmental engineer and an Associate of Geosyntec based in New Hampshire, is the moderator of an Environmental Business Council meeting set for October 22, 2013.
Mr. King is a member of the EBC New Hampshire Chapter Leadership Team for 2013. The topic for the upcoming meeting, organized by the chapter’s Water Program professionals, is “Adaptation Strategies to Mitigate the Impacts of Climate Change.” Joining Mr. King from Geosyntec’s New Hampshire office is Rob Roseen, Ph.D., P.E., D.WRE, a senior water resources engineer and Associate of the firm.
Dr. Roseen, a former director of the University of New Hampshire (UNH)’s Stormwater Center, will discuss green infrastructure as a climate adaptation measure. Robert Varney, executive vice president at Normandeau Associates, will provide a historical perspective of climate change and regulatory response in New Hampshire. Cameron Wake, Ph.D., of UNH will present data regarding sea level rise and climate change.
Other practitioners scheduled to speak include Peter Britz, sustainability coordinator for the City of Portsmouth, who will discuss the city’s coastal resilience initiative. Steve Miller, coordinator of the New Hampshire Coastal Training Program at the Great Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve, will present information on building climate preparedness in coastal New Hampshire.
Mr. King has almost 30 years of engineering experience with expertise in water supply and treatment, site assessment, and remediation of soil and groundwater. He has particular expertise regarding in situ biochemical treatment of metals in groundwater through his experience on dozens of sites in North America. Mr. King’s practice at Geosyntec focuses on the integration of environmental regulations and policies with his clients’ industrial, institutional, and commercial business objectives, sometimes balancing the competing interests of a wide range of project stakeholders.
Dr. Roseen’s broad area of expertise includes water resources engineering, stormwater management, low-impact development design, and porous pavements. He offers clients additional expertise in hydrology and hydraulics evaluations, stream restoration and enhancement alternatives, dam removal assessments, groundwater investigations, nutrient and total maximum daily load (TMDL) studies, remote sensing, and geographic information system applications.
