CSA Ocean Sciences Inc. (CSA) has formally launched its GeoSpatial Services Business Line to serve a rapidly increasing need for geospatial services and applications.

CSA GeoSpatial Services provides comprehensive solutions in spatial planning, field data collection, GIS and remote sensing analysis, 2D and 3D visualization, data management, and web-delivered mapping applications. CSA’s GeoSpatial Services Business Line is built on the capabilities of CSA’s long-standing GIS team, which has a proven track record of exceeding the unique GIS, GeoScience, spatial analysis, and data management needs of a broad spectrum of public and private entities.

Several key reports produced over the past few years by private firms such as BCG, Daratech, and Oxera-Google as well as government agencies that include the United Nations and U.S. Department of Labor have independently concluded that extraordinary growth is occurring in the market for geospatial services and applications.

There is a growing recognition between the government and the private sector that an understanding of location and place is a vital component of effective decision making. The use of geospatial data and technology becomes more entrenched and necessary with every passing year.

Keith VanGraafeiland, former manager of CSA’s GIS Group , brings over 12 years of professional geospatial experience and education to his new position as director of the CSA GeoSpatial Services Business Line.

Regarding the timing of the launch of CSA GeoSpatial Services, Mr. VanGraafeiland states: “The confluence of advanced web-enabled mapping technologies and the wealth of applied scientific experience available at CSA has created the perfect environment for providing innovative and customized geospatial solutions tailored to the specific needs of our clients.”

CSA GeoSpatial Services provides customized solutions for clients in petroleum (oil & gas) and energy exploration; national, regional, and local governments; environmental and marine non-governmental agencies (NGOs); military organizations, such as the Navy and Army Corps of Engineers; port facilities and port management organizations; environmental, civil, and structural engineering firms; and utility service providers.
