Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering (DSME) of South Korea has secured a USD 200 million order to build a 173,400 cbm LNG tanker, DSME said in a statement.
Daewoo will build the LNG tanker for a U.S.-based customer by 2017, according to the statement.
The LNG tanker will be powered by an environment-friendly LNG engine developed by Daewoo and MAN Diesel & Turbo.
Daewoo has won multiple orders for LNG tankers this year, positioning itself as one of the world’s premier shipyards in LNG tanker construction.
