India: Government to Develop New Major Ports Through PPP Mode

The Union Government has decided to develop Major Ports at Dugarajapatnam in Andhra Pradesh and Sagar Island in West Bengal through Public Private Partnership (PPP) mode. The Major Port at Dugarajapatnam is expected to be completed by 2018 at an approximate cost of Rs 4006 crores in the first phase.

The Union Government has decided to develop Major Ports at Dugarajapatnam in Andhra Pradesh and Sagar Island in West Bengal through Public Private Partnership (PPP) mode.

The Major Port at Dugarajapatnam is expected to be completed by 2018 at an approximate cost of Rs 4006 crores in the first phase. The Major Port at Sagar Island is expected to be completed by 2020 at an approximate cost of Rs 7820 crores in the first phase.

This was stated by Shri G.K. Vasan, Union Minister for Shipping, in a written reply to a question in the Rajya Sabha today.
