Sandvik, a leading global supplier of equipment and tools, service and technical solutions for the mining industry, has announced that they won the Solbakk tunnel contract.
This arrangement will include four intelligent computer-controlled Sandvik DTi series jumbos, rock tools and a service contract.
The tunnel will be 14.3 kilometers long, with its deepest point 290 meters below sea level. During this development program (over a 39-month period), approx. 1.2 million cubic meters will be excavated from the area between Nord Jæren and Ryfylke.
The completion of this most ambitious of Norway’s long list of undersea tunnels is scheduled for 2018.
