The United States Department of Defense has announced that Austal USA LLC., Mobile, Ala., has been awarded a $14 million modification to previously awarded contract (N00024-11-C-2301) to exercise options for class service efforts for the Littoral Combat Ship (LCS) program.
The company will provide engineering and design services as well as affordability efforts to reduce LCS acquisition and lifecycle costs.
Work will be performed in Mobile, Ala. (72 percent) and Pittsfield, Mass. (28 percent), and is expected to be complete by December 2014.
