Codelco of Chile signed a deal to buy two cargoes of LNG for about $100 million from Metrogas, the company said in a statement.
Two 165,000 cbm tankers will deliver the cargoes during 2014 and in 2015 to the Mejillones LNG terminal, operated by GDF Suez, in which Codelco has a 37% stake.
The deal will ensure natural gas supplies for Codelco’s Chuquicamata and Radomiro Tomic mines in northern Chile, Codelco added.
