For future decision makers and their advisors in governments, port and harbour authorities, off-shore companies and other organisations that have to execute dredging projects, the International Association of Dredging Companies organises the International Seminar on Dredging and Reclamation. The IADC Seminar will be held from Monday 31 March through Friday 4 April 2014 at Novotel Brisbane (TBC), Australia.

FOR THE FIRST TIME IN AUSTRALIA

Some of the most important dredging projects of the last decade have taken place in Australia: the Port of Melbourne, the Port of Fremantle, the new runway at the Brisbane airport. And more projects and works are going on or being planned for the (near) future.

No wonder that Pro Dredging and Marine Consultants – together with other interested parties – has asked IADC to organise its well-known, educational Seminar for the first time in Australia. Since 1993 IADC, often in co-operation with local universities and/or other associations, has provided this Seminar combining classroom lectures and workshops with a site visit to a dredging project. Over a 1,000 past participants agree: this is a unique chance to receive invaluable hands-on experience.

BY PROFESSIONALS FOR PROFESSIONALS

Dredging plays an essential role in world trade and economic and social progress. That’s why IADC developed this comprehensive Seminar for professionals in dredging-related industries – presented by professionals from the major dredging companies. To optimise the chances of the successful completion of a project, contracting parties should, from the start, fully understand the requirements of a dredging project.

IN THE CLASSROOM

The in-depth lectures are given by dredging experts from IADC member companies, whose practical knowledge and experience add an extra value to the classroom lessons. Amongst the subjects covered are:

– the development of new ports and maintenance of existing ports;

– project phasing;

– descriptions of types of dredging equipment;

– costing of projects; and

– types of dredging projects.

BEYOND THE CLASSROOM: SEEING IS BELIEVING

Activities outside the classroom are equally as important. An on-site visit to a nearby dredging project is therefore an integral element in the learning process as well.

NETWORKING

Face-to-face social contact is invaluable. A mid-week dinner where participants, lecturers and other dredging employees can interact, network and discuss the real, hands-on world of dredging provides another dimension to this stimulating week.
