At an exclusive event in London on 20th January 2014, DNV GL presented the outcomes of the Energy Technologies Institute’s (ETI) groundbreaking £8m PerAWaT wave and tidal energy project.
Led by DNV GL, the PerAWaT consortium started with the underlying physical principles and built up a comprehensive description of the behaviour of individual wave and tidal energy convertors and arrays. The models were verified and validated against real-world data. The tools that have been developed are now providing technology developers, project developers and investors with validated methods for predicting machine performance and future energy yields, giving additional confidence in a project’s financial return.
