A subcommittee of Rhode Island’s Coastal Resources Management Council (CRMC) will hold a workshop on Deepwater Wind’s Block Island offshore wind project on April 3, when it will decide whether to approve the project.
“At this workshop, the Subcommittee will render a recommendation of its findings of all the hearing and testimony presented at the 3 hearings,” the Subcommittee informed.
The final decision will be made by the full Council, to which the Subcommittee will forward its recommendation later on.
The Block Island offshore wind farm has a capacity of 30 megawatt (MW), comprising five 6MW wind turbines. The transmission link comprises a subsea cable route 20 miles long (approximately 32 kilometers) from the offshore wind farm to Scarborough State Beach in Narragansett, where it would make landfall.
