The University of Oldenburg will showcase its equipment and training opportunities in the field of wind energy at this year’s Hannover Messe, in Hall 27, Stand E50, from 7 to 11 April.

ForWind, the Center for Wind Energy Research of the Universities of Oldenburg, Hanover and Bremen, will present MULTI-LIDAR, an optical laser-based wind scanner for high-resolution wind measurements. The measurement method is being further developed at the University of Oldenburg.

The second device to be showcased is “Whirlwind”, which is based on LIDAR technology. Its compact design allows the installation of wind scanner directly onto a wind turbine. “Whirlwind” actively supports the regulation of the turbine and thus contributes to reducing the burden of wind gusts.

Another item in the field of the wind flow measurement is the sphere anemometer, a technology that has been continuously improved and refined by ForWind’s scientists over the recent years. With sphere anemometer, wind speed and its direction can be measured simultaneously with high frequency. Through its particularly stable shape and absence of moving parts, the device is low maintenance and ideal for offshore use.

At the Hannover Messe, interested parties can get information about the training opportunities at ForWind: Two education programs for onshore and offshore wind energy are intended for experts and executives from the industry. In its seminars, the ForWind Academy combines practical issues with current scientific knowledge.
