Aberdeen Offshore Wind Farm Ltd was granted planning permission for its onshore work for the European Offshore Wind Deployment Centre (EOWDC).
In November last year, Aberdeenshire Council refused the planning permission for two substations, access road and installation of an underground cable between the substation compound and Mean Low Water Springs.
The council said that the proposal would have unacceptable impact on the landscape as well as on public health.
Contrary to that, Directorate for Planning and Environmental Appeals upheld the appeal made by Vattenfall, AREG and Technip.
EOWDC consists of 11 turbines located off the Aberdeen coast with a total capacity of up to 100MW, enough to power 68,000 households.
