The STS LNG transfer was conducted between the 125,000 m³ LNG Taurus, chartered by JAPEX and owned by MOL, and the coastal 3,500 m³ LNGC Akebono Maru, chartered by JAPEX, and owned by Shinwa Chemical tankers.

According to SPT, this STS transfer was the first of its kind in Japan, fully compliant with SIGTTO LNG STS guidelines.

JAPEX sought the assistance of SPT who provided the LNG STS specific technical knowledge and expertise to develop the STS system and procedures. SPT also provided consultancy, training and commissioning services.
