A naming ceremony for a new LNG vessel ordered by Trans Pacific Shipping, a joint venture comprising NYK, Chubu Electric and Mitsubishi, was held at the Nagasaki Shipyard & Machinery Works of Mitsubishi Heavy Industries.

At the ceremony, Toshio Mita, chairman of Chubu Electric, named the ship Seishu Maru, and his wife cut the ceremonial rope holding the vessel in place. NYK chairman Koji Miyahara was also in attendance.

This vessel’s name is derived from the old name for the north and central parts of Mie prefecture, where Chubu Electric’s LNG terminals are located.

After delivery, Seishu Maru, a 153,000 m3 Moss Type carrier, will be shared by NYK, MC, and Chubu Electric, and used to transport LNG for Australia and North America projects.
