The repair work on Holland America Line’s luxury liner MS Veendam that suffered a mechanical problem late September will have to be made in a dry-dock, the company said.
As a result, Holland America Line canceled the Oct. 11 seven-day Canada & New England sailing of MS Veendam from Quebec to Boston.
The ship will sail under its own power without guests from Quebec to Philadelphia where the dry dock work will take place. All services and safety systems on the ship are fully operational.
Over 1,300 passengers who were stranded in Quebec City left the luxury liner.
“ Guests booked on the seven-day Oct. 11 sailing will receive a full refund of their cruise fare plus a future cruise credit of 100 percent of their cruise fare paid. In addition, we will reimburse non-refundable expenses such as missed tours and excursions that were purchased through Holland America Line ,” the company said in a statement. With the latest cancellation, in total three seven-day cruises from Quebec City to Boston have been affected.
Holland America Line said the guests will receive a full refund of their fare and any shore excursions that were booked through the company. They will also get a credit toward a future cruise.
