Danish drilling contractor Maersk Drilling has received the Petroleum Safety Authority’s (PSA) Acknowledgement of Compliance (AoC) for the Maersk Interceptor jack-up drilling rig.
Maersk Interceptor is a jack-up drilling rig, delivered by the Keppel Shipyard in Singapore in 2014. The unit, one of the world’s largest of the kind, arrived in Stavanger, Norway in October and it was named at GMC Marine Partners yard in Mekjarvik in Norway. It is owned by Maersk AS and will be operated by Maersk Drilling Norge AS.
Decision
According to the statement, it is the PSA’s assessment that petroleum activities may be carried out using the Maersk Interceptor jack-up within the regulatory framework.
The validity of the Acknowledgement of Compliance assumes that Maersk Drilling Norge AS ensures that the rig and relevant parts of the company’s organisation and management systems are maintained, to fulfill the terms and conditions set out in the PSA’s decision.
Audits in connection with the AoC application
In connection with the AoC application for Maersk Interceptor, the PSA carried out audits within a number of selected disciplines including: Maritime systems; Logistics; Drilling technology systems; Emergency preparedness; Working environment follow-up; Maintenance, electrical and protection systems.
What is an AoC?
An Acknowledgement of Compliance (AoC) is a statement from the Petroleum Safety Authority Norway expressing the authorities’ confidence that petroleum activities can be performed by the facility within the regulatory framework.
