Renewables in Spain save EUR 9.197 mln

Reduction costs for the electricity sector of Spain in 2013 amount to EUR 9.197 mln thanks to Spanish renewables, it is stated in APPA’s report.

Renewable energy savings generated in 2013 in the electrical system of Spain amount to EUR 9.197 mln. Out of these, EUR 5.871 mln correspond to savings for its entry into the daily market, EUR 3.142 mln in savings regarding fossil fuel imports and EUR 184 mln in savings by reducing CO2 emissions, Association of Renewable Energies (APPA) announced.

The Renewable Sector as a whole contributed EUR 9.496 mln to the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of Spain in 2013, and made a net fiscal contribution of EUR 1.163 mln.

The report also states that the renewable sector in Spain employed a total of 93.415 workers.

APPA is created in 1987 in Spain. The Association consists of companies and organizations that are active in the clean energy sectors such as biofuels, biomass, wind, geothermal, hydro, marine, small wind and photovoltaic.
