The Sihwa Lake tidal power station in South Korea has the capacity to generate 552.7 GWh of energy annually, and was opened in August 2011.

The project is stationed on Lake Sihwa which is located in the Midwest of the Korean Peninsula in Gyeonggi Province, bordering the West Sea at the Lake Sihwa region.

The Sihwa Lake tidal power station in South Korea has the total power output capacity of 254 MW. It is owned by the Korean Water Resource Corporation, and was opened in August 2011.

The tidal barrage uses a seawall constructed in 1994.

Ten submerged bulb turbines, with a capacity of 25.4 MW each, are driven in a flood generation scheme – the power is generated on tidal inflows only.

The annual generation capacity of the facility is 552.7 GWh.

Cost of the project was met by the South Korean Government and amounts to USD 355.1 mln.
