Frazer-Nash has won a commission to help support the Marine Farm Accelerator (MFA) programme which is being delivered in collaboration with the Carbon Trust, it is stated in Frazer-Nashes press release.

With commercial-scale marine energy farms close to deployment in UK waters, the MFA is working to develop technologies that are essential for these energy arrays, by accelerating their development and enabling future cost savings. Yield optimisation is one of the programme’s key focus areas.

Neil Adams , Group Leader at Frazer-Nash, said: “Frazer-Nash has been appointed to give a clear overview of the approaches used for energy yield and uncertainty assessment across the wave and tidal energy industry and the relative pros and cons of each. Our work will help developers and investors involved in accelerating the commercialisation of marine energy.”

The development of best practice guidance for wave and tidal energy will deliver help MFA’s stakeholders to identify and direct their efforts where they can provide maximum benefit for the industry, according to the company. It will increase the understanding of the risks associated with projects for project developers, which in turn might attract investments and also enable investors to to decide where and how to invest their capital.

Marine Farm Accelerator (MFA) is an Offshore Renewable Energy (ORE) Catapult programme.
