U.S. offshore rigs claw up to 51. Onshore rigs down by 87

Baker Hughes on Friday issued it weekly rig count for U.S. and Canada.

Baker Hughes on Friday issued its weekly rig count for U.S. and Canada. U.S. Offshore rig count rose by one, but onshore rigs were down by 87 units.

BHI Rig Count: U.S. -87 to 1456 rigs

U.S. Rig Count is down 87 rigs from last week to 1456, with oil rigs down 83 to 1140, gas rigs down 5 to 314, and miscellaneous rigs up 1 to 2.

U.S. Rig Count is down 315 rigs from last year at 1771, with oil rigs down 276, gas rigs down 37, and miscellaneous rigs down 2.

The U.S. Offshore rig count is 50, up 1 rig from last week, and down 4 rigs year over year.

BHI Rig Count: Canada -13 to 381 rigs

Canadian Rig Count is down 13 rigs from last week to 381, with oil rigs down 16 to 184, and gas rigs up 3 to 197.

Canadian Rig Count is down 240 rigs from last year at 621, with oil rigs down 225, and gas rigs down 15. Baker Hughes has issued the rotary rig counts as a service to the petroleum industry since 1944, when Hughes Tool Company began weekly counts of U.S. and Canadian drilling activity. Hughes initiated the monthly international rig count in 1975. The North American rig count is released weekly at noon central time on the last day of the work week. The international rig count is released on the fifth working day of each month.
