Technip has delivered a 23,000-ton truss spar hull to Anadarko Petroleum Corporation for its Heidelberg field development.

According to Technip, the hull will soon head to the Heidelberg field located on Green Canyon blocks, offshore USA in the Gulf of Mexico. The water depth at the site is 1,620 meters (5,310 feet).

Furthermore, the company notes that the Heidelberg Spar Hull is the 8th of its kind built by Technip for Anadarko. The Heidelberg Spar will have a capacity of more than 80,000 barrels of oil and 2.3 million cubic meters of natural gas per day.

Technip received instructions from Anadarko to construct the hull in November 2012. The company’s operating center in Houston, Texas provided the overall project management and engineering and the detailed hull design and fabrication was carried out by Technip’s construction yard in Pori, Finland.

In its recent report, Anadarko said that the 80,000-BOPD Heidelberg project remains on track for first oil in 2016, as construction on the topsides is more than 70-percent complete, and two deepwater drilling rigs are actively drilling development wells in the field.
