Danish Energy Agency (DEA) has issued a call for pre-qualification to bid for the construction of wind farms in six areas off the Danish coast.

A maximum of 200 MW could be proposed for each area, except the one off the island of Bornholm, where a project of up to 50 MW is planned.

The country aims to install a total of 350MW in this round, thus wind farms will be built only is some of the six areas. This is a so-called multi-site-tendering process, throughout which several areas are in competition.

Deadline for submission of pre-qualification applications is May 26, 2015.

This step is required since the call for tenders will also have the criterion for being pre-qualified to bid.

DEA has also pointed out that it expects this tender call to attract new bidders from offshore wind market, due to smaller projects and downsizing of technical, financial and economic requirements to participate in the tender.

The draft tender specifications will be published later this spring, and the final tender specifications, including the final EIA, will be published in the beginning of 2016.
